On November 28, FFA and the Frankfurt School – UNEP Collaborating (FS-UNEP) Centre for Climate and Sustainable Energy Finance will jointly host an online learning session on net-zero banking and transition finance.
The online session will cover discussions on net-zero commitments and how they are linked to climate-aligned objectives and transition; the role of financial markets in supporting decarbonization and climate-resilient initiatives; and what net-zero or sustainable finance scenario analysis are critical for financial decision-making and regulation.

The presenters are:
- Christine Grüning, Director, Frankfurt School – UNEP Collaborating Centre on Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance.
Dr Christine Grüning is Director at the Frankfurt School – UNEP Collaborating Centre on Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance, a strategic cooperation between the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Her work focuses on climate finance and policy. She is particularly interested in the role of public and private actors in international climate finance and its impact on financial markets, the integration of the Paris Agreement into financial institutions, and the creation of framework conditions for sustainable investments.
Combining applied research with practical policy advice and project implementation, she has gained extensive knowledge in development and sustainable climate finance while working with international and national financial institutions. Ms. Grüning is particularly involved in the education sector at Frankfurt School, where she develops and manages sustainable finance programs. Christine has been a member of the Climate Advisory Board of the City of Frankfurt am Main since 2024. Following her banking apprenticeship, Christine Grüning completed an MBA, a Diploma in International Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts in Finance. She began her academic career at the Chair of Finance and Environmental Economics at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), where she obtained her doctorate in 2010.
- Carola Menzel-Hausherr, Head, Frankfurt School – UNEP Collaborating Centre on Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance.
With more than 20 years of financial sector development and sustainable finance experience, Carola Menzel-Hausherr is a highly experienced expert and is heading the Frankfurt School-UNEP Collaborating Centre for Sustainable Finance, where she is responsible for a wide range of sustainable finance projects. Her work spans over providing technical assistance, training, and strategic guidance and organizational development with a focus on sustainability across various regions, including Asia and Pacific.
She works with public sector and private sector organizations managing the required systemic change, guiding financial institutions on transitioning to greening institutions, integrating sustainable finance practices into strategies and processes to align with international commitments like the Paris Agreement and with international frameworks (e.g., TCFD) and standards.
