On August 22, Fair Finance Asia (FFA) will conduct a webinar, titled, “Taxonomies for Sustainable Finance: Can they support the acceleration of Asia’s just energy transition?”
Session Background
FFA will conduct this webinar to launch its Sustainable Finance Taxonomy Guidebook Module 4 Version 2 (2024), which provides practical guidance for civil society organizations (CSOs) and equips them to engage them with financial sector leaders regarding taxonomies for sustainable finance. This update builds upon the 2022 edition and covers the development of taxonomies for sustainable finance across nine Fair Finance Asia countries – Bangladesh, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Japan, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam – as well as the ASEAN Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance (data up to May 2024).
Objectives
Bringing together a diverse panel, this webinar aims to:
- Summarize the key takeaways from ongoing processes of taxonomy development across FFA countries.
- Highlight the key elements related to just energy transition (JET) in the taxonomies being developed across FFA countries.
- Assess the integration of social elements or lack thereof in the taxonomies being developed.
- Reflect on the challenges in the implementation and efficiency of the taxonomies in FFA countries.
